“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
So often when I read this verse or ones like it, I only think of the ways God changes our plans completely different than what we hope for or plan for originally in our own minds. The way the Sovereign God so often changes our plans and desires in a way we wouldn’t think of. But I was reminded of other thoughts on this verse after a conversation last night. The reminder of how God provides and blesses our plans and efforts many times as well, lest we be foolish, proud, and too ignorant to recognize and give glory to the Lord who “works all things together for our good” (Romans 8:28).
There are times as well that this Sovereign Lord changes things and our circumstances. That “the purpose of the Lord will stand”, may mean Him speeding up our plans by blessing them and providing routes to fulfill them in a more effective, efficient, or simply better, way than we could’ve planned ourselves. I pray for that. But at the moment I’m just thankful and enjoying being able interesting to think that part of the truth that “the purpose of the Lord will stand”, may mean Him making “our plans” even better.
