Twice in the last week I’ve had two different people discuss how the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 includes only 1 imperative, “make disciples.” The other parts of that passage all support the point that Jesus commands us to make disciples.
18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
This is something that we sometimes miss or are not aware of when reading our English translations. We’re to do all of the things in the verse, but they all support the point that we are to make disciples.
