Abraham Was Not Born a Jew

The biblical patriarch Abraham was not born a Jew. That may seem like a simple, obvious statement. However, I often forget how interesting (and important!) it is to remember the ramifications of the events and commands of God before the Law was instituted. What kind of things happened and were said between Creation and the days of Moses?

It’s interesting to note that Abraham was the son of an idol worshiper (Joshua 24:2-3, Genesis 11:26-32). Yet God called this man to be the father of many peoples and God said He would bless Abraham, and make him a blessing to all the families of the Earth (Genesis 12:1-3).
