Your View of Money Reflects Your Dependence on God

I recently finished reading The Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn. I strongly recommend it to all Christians. I’ve posted highlights of some of his thoughts elsewhere.

For me, it was a huge wake up call to seek to rely on God’s provision more and more. Recently, in raising funds for a short-term trip, I was blown away by God’s provision and timing. I heard a sermon today where the pastor spoke from Deuteronomy 8. He talked about how God provided manna day by day, instead of the Israelites growing crops, so that they would recognize their hunger, and their hunger would point them to something greater than food: God. The fact that every morning they were only able to take enough food for the day (except the day before the Sabbath, where they collected enough for that day and the Sabbath), forced them to rely on God day by day.
